When JACK became back WCBS-FM !
On July 12, 2007, two years after the shocking switch (listen to my other clip), New York City happily met back its Oldies station.
The new owners kicked the JACK format off the 101,1 frequency of NYC and flipped it back to WCBS-FM. The whole change lasts 30 minutes, and as you know, Youtube allows only 10-minute segments, sorry !
But at least you’ll hear the first ten minutes of the switch, enjoy and feel free to comment !
As you’ll hear, the last JACK song is something called, I think, “Don’t stop believing”. It ends cold on purpose to remind the blunt way WCBS-FM DJs were treated, especially Bill Brown.
And, as the last song before JACK was “Summer Wind”, they had the great idea of slowly getting it back on air, followed by a great sound-and-music countdown from 1964.
Enjoy the first 10 minutes of that historical come-back !
Long live WCBS-FM d’un auditeur du Québec ! (Sorry for the lack of images)

@rigaudien: No, I …
@rigaudien: No, I always figured it would take over the 92.3 format when K-Rock’s second incarnation flopped, but they became a dance music station. Jack wasn’t a terrible format even though I personally wasn’t a fan and it would’ve done well in New York had the talking heads in charge knew what the they were doing. Their sheer arrogance throughout was absolutely astounding.
im so happy that …

KCBS was first KKHR …
KCBS was first KKHR in the 80’s, then went to oldies as KCBS, or CBS-FM, yes, we had our own little version of CBS-FM from New York, Then as if it wasn’t that, it went to arrow, then went to jack. arrow was an OK thing, not as good as the 2 other formats.
Did JACK replace …

And, as we speak, in recent PPM Arbitron ratings, 101.1 WCBS-FM is #2 overall in New York City. No one in radio thought it would happen.
No one, that is…except those who kept the faith.
