People more and more get their music from live streams on the internet, and from things like Serius Satalite.
And people also download music (whether legally or illegally) all the time.
So where does this leave real, traditional AM/FM radio?
Ouch! In a word: No. Not the NEAR future
It will take a while. and it won’t be from the things you mention. Mostly radio will kill itself, especially if it doesn’t go back to a more traditional local approach. Plus there’ll be some help from newer technology – both bad and good for radio. Specifically Wi-Max and stuff we don’t even know about yet.
Currently radio is taking steps (highly controversial) to limit their financial losses so they can remain valid as investments. Voice-tracking from distant regional studios, less money for promotion, lower salaries and other things are being done to curb costs… at the expense of the employees and stockholders.
Don’t forget talk in its various forms and rest assured radio is doing all it can to come up with newer, more exciting methods of programming (podcasting is an example as is a more developed web presence).
Though down, radio isn’t down for the count – yet.

I want to move away from the podcast format and start doing live shows over the internet. What is a good website to do that from and is there some software out there that does live broadcasting?
stickam.com just make a account make a logo for your radio show and buy a pc microphone configure your settings on the website and there you go. the viewers of your show may also chat with each other during your live radio show .
if you need any help email me at JIMM.N.E.CRICKET@gmail.com

There is a lot of live radio that can still be heard, and there are a few live non-news TV shows. But if you look at the trend, these things seem to be slowly disappearing.
Why do you think we see this trend? And will it continue?
I think you are correct. The electronic bundle is separating the public with a one world view.
