I am new to WiFi Radio (a few weeks) and I am amazed at how fantastic it is. And simple to program and operate. Now I am curious to know about Internet Radio and HD Radio as I often see them advertised. Can you compare the three?

WiFi radio is a radio that runs from WiFi and dosn’t stream through your computer but still through the Internet, so, it is still a form of internet radio.

HD radio is just like HD TV its a very hi quality internet radio (there it is again)

I want a dependable software that will allow me to broadcast both internet radio and TV 24/7. I would like to be able to embed both media in a web page and allows people to connect to the internet radio via iTunes, Winamp and Windows Media Player.

You can do this with IIS in Server 2003, but I wonder about your outbound bandwidth limits.

If I have an Internet Radio Station Do I have to ask permission to record campanies to put their song on air?

My friends and I are planning to put up an Internet radio Station, I was just wondering if we need to ask permission to record companies, and artist for us to put their song on air?

Not only ask permission, but probably pay them. I’m hearing that there are smaller fees and some concessions for student stations and such. Check out www.riaa.org

How do you sell and promote and better your internet radio show?

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2010 and filed under internet radio | 4 Comments »

I am a radio announcer for internet radio and want to take my show to the next level. I want to better market my show, and use innovative ways and ideas of getting my show to various people and audiences. Any suggestions?

See you make your Radio to the next level you need listeners. So the main point is that to retain your current listeners get more and not to let them go.
First thing, get listener requests. Sounds hard? Well get a website for your radio and also get an Sms number which can divert the sms to the website. So you can get all the requests directly in the website and in real-time. Also try to announce in the requests as who has requested what song etc.
Secondly, play more hits. Hits are what people listen to.
Thirdly, give some play time to every genre. If you play Rock then don’t just keep on roaming around the same songs again and again. Also play some pops in between.
Fourthly, When you know that you have maximum listeners then play some fast numbers.
Fifth, never let your radio down for more that 1-2 hours. If you need more listeners then you might put a Radio bot to mIRC chatrooms which announces and updates what’s playing and who’s playing every hour.
Lastly, Try retaining listeners by writing their name is the website’s "Hall of Fame" or something like that..!!

How do you set up a legal internet radio station from the UK?

Posted by admin on February 18th, 2010 and filed under internet radio | 1 Comment »

How would I go about setting up a legal internet radio station.

What licenses do I need, what are they for, and how much do they cost?

I’ve heard something about having to pay for one license for the artist and another for the recording? If all my music was downloaded (legally) from, for example iTunes, would I still need to pay for the recording one?
